Regional General Practice – Q3 Overview

Date Posted: 17/11/2011

The third quarter (Q3) of 2011 was full of positive activity for the Regional General Practice team at Foundation Recruitment. Whilst the bulk of new instructions remain within Private Practice, we have encouragingly been working with a number of property companies and developers throughout Q3 of 2011. Whilst such opportunities remain thin on the ground for the regional market, it is encouraging that there are now a handful of such opportunities presenting themselves. This is a step in the right direction for a recovering market.

There is also more diversity to the roles that we have been instructed on; a trend that everyone at Foundation Recruitment hopes will continue into 2012. At the beginning of this year, there was a recurring theme to many of our new instructions within General Practice Surveying. Typically, our clients were looking to recruit recently qualified Valuation Surveyors or Property Managers. Whilst this is still the case for some of our North West and Yorkshire based clients, we have recently taken on new instructions for Acquisition Surveyors, Retail and Office Agents, Land Managers, Senior Development Surveyors, Investment Agents and Asset Managers. It is promising that this diversity is matched by the clients we are assisting. In Q3 of 2011, we have started to work with a range of exciting new clients across the regions; including a fund manager, niche local developer and an investor/property company.

Such roles always attract a high level of interest, regardless of the economic situation. At Foundation Recruitment, we have noticed an increasing number of candidates looking to relocate out of the London market to take up regional roles. Many of these individuals moved to London at the start of the downturn, but always planned to return home. It is therefore encouraging that we are starting to see this; a good barometer when assessing the regional market. We are taking an increasing number of calls from London based candidates seeking advice on the state of the regional market. The message from the General Practice team at Foundation Recruitment is that the signs are positive. Whilst the market does remain tough, there is a genuine recognition that we appear to be through the worst.

The start of 2012 will also provide a good indication for how next year will play out. Recruitment is always a major discussion point for many of our clients when returning from the Christmas break. Annual budgets are outlined and key growth areas identified. With positivity returning to the regional market, we at Foundation Recruitment are hopeful that the recent upsurge will continue into 2012.
